We established the New England Velodrome and Sports Complex as a non-profit in 2015.  Our idea was initially driven by Boston’s 2024 Olympic Bid.  As part of this plan, Boston needed to decide between a temporary and permanent Velodrome structure.  We wanted permanent! While Boston did not pursue the Olympic bid, we still believe in bringing indoor cycling to Massachusetts!

All members involved with this project understand the importance of introducing young and old to unique and safe athletic pursuits.  They enrich life, help form lasting bonds, and maintain healthy habits.

The NEVSC is a certified non-profit, guide star approved, and an Amazon Smile partner.  Your donation will help support a healthy community, will make you feel good, and is tax deductible!  That is a win-win for everyone!

“Riding and competing on the velodrome completely changed my life.  It gave me a sense of belief in myself and my abilities.   I want to share this experience that changed my life with as many people as I can!  A velodrome doesn’t have to be for an elite few racers, everyone from 5 year old children to 80 year old men and women can enjoy the experience while reaching fitness goals and living a healthier life.”  ~Pam Fernandes

Mission

Bring year round cycling to the Greater Boston region

Vision

Include all in our community and adjacent communities as their is something for all with a special focus on youth programs

Values

our dream

Australia indoor olympic velodrome

Through donations and community partnership, we are planning to build an indoor wood 250 meter velodrome.  This is a massive undertaking!  It involves finding a large enough accessible place preferably near the I-95 beltway and a big enough building to house such a large track.

What this really means:

  • The size and slopes are gentle enough for kids while still providing a challenge for racers.
  • Wood is a smooth and sustainable surface, really the best kind for a fast, reliable, and consistent track.
  • Indoor means year round cycling opportunities for all!

While our dream is to bring indoor cycling to New England, we strongly believe that a cycling track of any kind would be beneficial to the community.  Should it be necessary to scale back our project, we are prepared to alter our facility in order to meet community needs and fiscal constraints.

Virtual Tour

A velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Modern velodromes feature banked oval tracks, consisting of two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straights. This definition doesn’t even begin to describe what it feels like to ride on a velodrome!  Check out the video and images of velodromes we idolize.

Human Impact

While building a velodrome entails building a structure, the impact on the community is far different.  In Trexlertown, the velodrome is a place where pee-wee’s at age 5 learn to ride safely and away from traffic.  In Chicago, the velodrome projects offered cycling and bike maintenance programs for the community’s youth to develop skills and keep them safely off the streets.  In LA, the Velo Sports Center offers development programs and races open to the public, hosts national and international events, and partners as an Olympic training site.

But it is really about impacting and improving the life of one person at a time!

Giving Back

Kids learning to ride on an outdoor velodrome

We are invested in giving back to the specific community that hosts our dream as well as the surrounding region.  It is still too early to tell  how and what form that might take.

Rest assured, we are committed to developing a plan with our home community to address their specific needs, then expand our efforts to the Greater Boston Area.
